Although we have received limited customer support for this initiative,  in line with Alba’s environmental policy we have over the last few years reduced our peat usage by 20% by the incorporation of Pine bark and perlite. A further reduction of 20% by incorporating coconut fibre (coir) is being investigated.

In co-operation with our growing media supplier we have developed a peat free compost meets our specification of weight and nutritional status.

In order to make best use of this limited resource we would suggest that customers requiring stock grown in Peat alternatives discuss with us their future requirements so that we can ensure their requirements are met.
